For under a million dollars, one can find all sorts of housing configurations: park- and subway-adjacent studios, one-bedrooms hidden in carriage houses or former shoe factories, and even the occasional true two-bedroom. We’re combing the market for particularly spacious, nicely renovated, or otherwise worth-a-look apartments at various six-digit price points.
This week, we have an apartment with a giant terrace and a two-bedroom in Park Slope just down the street from Bill de Blasio’s gym.
A Clinton Hill one-bedroom for $735,000
A classic one-bedroom in the Clinton Hill co-ops, a 12-building complex in the heart of Clinton Hill. The apartment gets a lot of light and comes with five closets for maximum storage. You’re close to multiple trains and the restaurants on DeKalb that are all nice but kind of the same. Monthlies are $1,139 but come with a laundry room, 24-hour security, and a package room. The courtyard is lovely instead of depressing. Another one-bedroom a floor up with the same layout is going for $100,000 more
A studio in Yorkville for $550,000
“A terrace lover’s dream!” is how the listing for this studio starts, and we agree. This apartment is essentially one big square, but whatever you lack in separated living space you make up for in 120-square-feet of private outdoor space. No tiny balconettes here! Plus there are hardwood floors and an alcove for your bed. Monthlies aren’t cheap at $1,155, but you get bike storage, a gym, and a 24-hour doorman.
A Park Slope two-bedroom for $770,000
This listing one block off of Prospect Park just saw a small price drop. Part of an eight-unit co-op, the monthlies are somewhat affordable at $990, and it comes with a storage cage and laundry. There are charming French doors into the living room and the kitchen is sizable, with new stainless-steel appliances that include a dishwasher. Plus it’s just two blocks from Bill de Blasio’s once-preferred YMCA.
A two-bedroom in Gramercy Park for $960,000
A prewar apartment with two bedrooms and a home office on a landmarked block in Gramercy Park. The kitchen is eat-in and comes with new appliances, including a combination washer-dryer, so you might have to get used to washing your clothes in there. The bathroom is on the smaller side but has been newly renovated and still comes with a full bath. Monthlies are $1,520, but you are in one of the nicest neighborhoods in the city, which I’m assuming means you’ve got some dough anyway.
